Vaginal steaming

3 reasons to make vaginal steaming part of your self-care practice

One of my new favorite self-care practices is vaginal steaming. You can use a number of herbs to make this a wonderful experience. Check out my video to see how I did it.

So now you’re basically an expert!

In my video I used lavender, calendula, comfrey, St John’s wort, and stinging nettles.

What I liked about this practice:

1. I felt my whole body relax in this process. I put all electronics away. I had a journal and a pen and a nice blanket. I picked a sunny spot and I got fully undressed and used a 100% cotton sheet to wrap around me so the steam could travel a little higher. The steam is fragrant and relaxing that way. It feels amazing. It is therapeutic like a massage or facial feels therapeutic.

2. I really felt a mental shift happen. It brightened my mood. It shifted my perspective. It got me in the mood to be intimate with my husband.  We all know how difficult the mental transition to playful and sexual with our partners can be if we allow ourselves to become worn out by “tasks” and “caring” for everyone else. It’s all a mindset. I find this is a really easy way to help me transition into a mood that is open and EXCITED.

3. I really felt clean. These herbs and teas are great for our bodies. Steaming opens up the pores and allows your body to eliminate toxins. Just like a facial feels to our face, steaming feels to our lower body.

Steaming is said to help with fertility and to balance pH levels in the vagina.
